Charles T. Coiner's subjects are as broad as his wanderings to find good fishing in England, Iceland, Scotland, Nova Scotia, and Portugal.
He produced many paintings of all of these sites by combining his passion for painting and salmon fishing, while staying at his summer home in Canada. His painting reflects his love of nature and reflects his work as an active conservationist. The artist sought salmon in particular when fishing, "because this fresh-water fish is found only in unpolluted waters."
Fishing in streams all over the world, Coiner found subjects which when interpreted in his canvases, reflect the tranquility to be found in the unspoiled fields, streams, and woodlands.
